Spring brings blooming flowers, longer walks, and... itchy paws? If your doodle is constantly licking or chewing their paws this season, allergies may be to blame. Just like humans, dogs can suffer from seasonal allergies, especially in the spring when pollen countsĀ rise. Some of the most common signs are Red, inflamed, or itchy paws.

🐾 Why Are Paws Affected?

According to VCA Animal Hospitals, dogs absorb allergens like pollen, mold, and grass through their skin—especially their paws. Walking on grass, dirt, or sidewalks covered in spring allergens can lead to irritation, itching, and even secondary infections.

āš ļø Signs of Spring Allergies in Dogs:

  • Excessive paw licking or chewing

  • Red or swollen paw pads

  • Ear scratching or head shaking

  • Sneezing or watery eyes

  • Skin redness or hot spots
